About us

For Web Developers

With a particular emphasis on web standards and best practices, A List Apart (ISSN: 1534-2293) investigates the design, development, and meaning of web content.

Originally founded as a mailing list in 2000, the website was launched in 1998. Our history allows you to visit the ghosts of ALA’s past, and our Masthead introduces you to the current crew.

Our code and content

The magazine and its writers share copyright protection for our material, however the code utilized in the articles is open source. Translation is also greatly appreciated. Details can be found at Permissions & Copyright.
